European Jewish Congress President Congratulates Former EJC Vice President Henry Grunwald on Award of Officer of the British Empire
Henry Grunwald, QC, OBE 9 Farm Avenue
London NW2 2EG
June 23rd 2009.
My dear Henry,
I was extremely happy to learn that you have been honored by Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth with the title of OBE (Officer of the British Empire).
I want to express my warm and sincere congratulations on this occasion but also to thank you, Henry, for your hard work as President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. I was delighted to work with you during many years and, in particular, more recently, on the issue of Shechita.
Your dedication and tireless service to the Jewish community and interfaith efforts throughout the United Kingdom as former president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and member of the executive of the European Jewish Congress is fittingly recognized by Her Majesty. The UK today is a diverse society, and this honor clearly indicates the importance that Her Majesty and the Royal Family place your efforts in strengthening the Jewish community and contribution to society as a whole. Your activity sets a brilliant example for everyone.
I look forward to see you during my next visit in London so to maintain our close relationship.
Please accept my very best regards.
