Jerusalem, 13 February, 2005 4th Adar A. 5765
Mr. Moshe Kantor,
Board of Governors,
The European Jewish Congress
Dear Mr. Kantor,
On my return to Israel from my State Visit to Poland to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, I wish to commend you and your wife, Elena Morozova, on your important initiative in organizing the event, "Let My People Live."
The historic meeting in the Krakow theatre, attended by numerous Heads of State and thousands of Holocaust survivors from all over the world, raised great response among the participants and strengthened humanity's awareness of the event's historical significance. It thereby made an important contribution in bringing the awareness of the Holocaust to the nations of the world and for future generations.
The initiative to establish the "World Holocaust Forum" is an important one. I agree with you that the Forum will ensure the continuation of the heritage of the Holocaust and the obligations of the leaders of the free and enlightened world to fight against the renewed incidents of anti-Semitism.
I commend you and your wife and greatly appreciate your efforts on behalf of the People and the State of Israel.
