The first preparatory meeting for Russian-US summit of Jewish communities was held in Geneva on Thursday.
Russian delegation was led by the president of the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC) Vyacheslav Kantor, and the United Jewish communities chairman Robert Goldberg led the US delegation, RJC press service told Interfax.
Discussed were the ways to rapproachement between the communities through the realization of projects in Russia and the CIS countries, preparation to the 2nd World Holocaust Forum in Kiev next September and matters pertaining to waiving Jackson-Vanick amendment regarding Russia.
The participants paid attention to constant monitoring of the situation in the world Jewish community, the press service reported.
The press service emphasized that the sides noted the importance of cooperation between the Russian and US Jewish communities which are the most influential ones in the world in financial, political and cultural aspects as well as their tremendous influence on the life of the Jews.
