Yesterday the Presidium of the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC) approved Viatcheslav Kantor as a candidate for President of the RJC, the Interfax news agency reported. Kantor’s nomination is subject to the RJC congress approval. Kantor’s candidacy was discussed by the bureau of the RJC Presidium and recommended for this position in the beginning of October. The previous RJC Congress President, Vladimir Slutsker, announced his resignation from office. Kantor is a major shareholder of JSC Acron, mineral fertilizers producer, Novgorod region. “I believe that under Kantor’s leadership the RJC will move to a higher level of performance”, Mikhail Friedman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank, said.
