Telegraph (Latvia): Latvia will not forget the Holocaust

During her visit to New York President of Latvia met with the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the European Jewish Congress, President of the World Holocaust Forum foundation Moshe Kantor.
Mrs. Vike-Freiberga assured Mr. Kantor that Latvia would not forget the tragedy of the European Jews and those crimes, which were committed against them on the territory of our country.

“I would like to thank you for supporting our aspirations and express Latvia’s strong interest in cooperation with the World Holocaust Forum foundation in the future,” – Mrs. Vike-Freiberga assured. She expressed a hope for close cooperation with the International Task Force on the Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research. According to the President, Latvia itself is not going to forget the tragedy, but with the help of the group the work in this direction can be made even more effective.

The World Holocaust Forum foundation was established in 2005. The objective of this international structure is to ensure preserving the memory of the Holocaust and its important lessons for the whole humankind and to eradicate any manifestations of anti-Semitism and various xenophobias all over the world.
